Repertory Wednesdays logo with film reel icon.

Our monthly Repertory Wednesday series usually consist of four (or even five) films, naturally. We hope you won’t be too alarmed to learn that October’s will contain just two.

That’s because, on Oct. 16, an HVAC renovation will shutter Partizanfilm temporarily. We timed the project to coincide with the Vermont International Film Festival at Burlington’s Main Street Landing to ensure that our community will still have plenty of excellent moviegoing options during our closure — which, lasting through Oct. 29, will include two of the month’s Wednesdays.

Two Wednesdays remain, and with Halloween coming up, we’ve booked the perfect horror duo: Don Siegel’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) on Oct. 7 and Philip Kaufman’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) on Oct. 14. The first, a bona fide classic, gave rise not only to the popular phrase “pod people” but also to a highly creative remake that became a bona fide classic in its own right.

As noted above, we’ll be back before Halloween itself (with improved temperature control in both of our auditoriums!). Please look out for additional special programming.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) - Horror, Sci-Fi - 80 min. - United States - English - Director: Don Siegel

This dazzling, whip-smart remake of the 1956 spine-tingler stars Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams and Leonard Nimoy as characters caught in an eerie tale of possession by alien pod-people.
